Aegis – You gain a pool of points as shown above. As an action, you may touch a creature to transfer a number of these points to it, to a maximum of twice your proficiency bonus. A creature with at least 1 aegis point (including yourself and your full aegis pool) gains the following benefits.
- A +1 bonus to armor class
- Aegis points may be expended when taking hit point damage, as if they were temporary hit points
Granted aegis points that have been granted to another creature fade after that creature completes a short rest. You may recover spent aegis points on a short rest by expending hit dice as if they were hit points, applying your wisdom modifier in place of your constitution modifier; all expended aegis points are recovered after completing a long rest.
Sudden Defense – You, or a creature you have given at least 3 aegis points, may cast shield by expending 3 aegis points.
Evasion – (on dexterity saving throws, take no damage on a successful save, half damage on a failed)
Sanctuary – As an action, you may declare all terrain within a 20ft radius of yourself to be rough terrain to creatures of your choice for 1 minute. You are treated as threatening this area for determining attacks of opportunity, making a spell attack that deals 2d8 points of force damage and adding your wisdom modifier to the damage dealt. You may make one attack of opportunity per unique creature moving through this area each round. After using this ability, you must complete a short rest before you may use it again.
Unyielding Aegis – If you roll initiative and have 0 aegis points remaining, you recover aegis points equal to your proficiency bonus. In addition, creatures you have granted an aegis point to since your last short rest, including those currently with 0, gain 1 aegis point unless they currently have more than half your proficiency bonus in aegis points.
Aegis Talents
(talents that modify aegis and its benefits; at least 12 needed)
- Armoring Aegis – You grant the benefits of mage armor to creatures you grant aegis points for as long as they have them.
- Blinding Burst – If a creature's aegis points are reduced to 0, you may take a reaction to envelop that creature in blinding light. Creatures within 5 feet of your subject must make a dexterity saving throw or be blinded until the end of their next turn.
- Environmental Aegis – You grant the benefits of endure elements to creatures you grant aegis points for as long as they have them. You may spend 1 aegis point to grant this effect to yourself.
- Light Eternal – As an action, you may expend 5 aegis points to allow creatures of your choice within 30 feet of you to make an additional saving throw against a condition or spell effect by which they are currently afflicted. If this saving throw succeeds, it is as if they succeeded on the original saving throw; if this saving throw fails, the creature instead gains 5 temporary hit points.
- Protection Style – As a reaction when a creature other than yourself and within 5 feet of you takes damage from an attack, you may reduce the damage taken by 1d10 + your proficiency bonus.
- Steps of Light – On your turn, you may teleport to a space adjacent to a creature you have granted aegis points. Your maximum distance for this teleport is equal to your movement, and it does not require an action; your movement is consumed as if you physically moved that distance.
- Wings of Grey – As a reaction when you make a saving through against an effect (such as a dragon's breath weapon) or spell targeting an area (such as cone of cold, fireball, or lightening bolt), you may expend a spell slot to protect yourself and creatures in a cone, granting them a bonus to the saving throw against that spell or effect. This cone is 15 feet per level of the spell slot expended, and the bonus granted is 1d4 + the level of the spell slot expended.
