Stress

Stress Explosion

Arson: Fire soothes the character's soul, and staring into the flames can entrance her. If she spends part of a scene burning an object, she may regain 1, 1d3, or 1d4+1 points of spirit, depending on what she has burnt, particularly the size or value. This may only occur once per scene.

Cleaning: The character will compulsively clean, tidy, rearrange, etcetera, her surroundings, down to the tiniest particle of dust and grime, imposing a -4 penalty to all rolls other than those made to clean.

Crying: The character will start to cry, and be mostly useless for a time. She may hold back the tears, but she takes a -4 penalty to all rolls until she has a good enough cry to get it out of her system.

Escape: The character will try to get away from her problems, literally. She will flee the immediate area, and continue fleeing or curl up in a safe place for a time until she finally calms down. If forced, she may participate in combat, though she may not spend less than 2 dice on defense on any round.

Pouting: The character will begin to pout, withdrawing from most social activities and causing stress to those that try to help her. Those that interact with a pouting character will take 1 point of stress damage for that scene.

Property Damage: The character takes out her stress on her surroundings! So long as it's not living, it's generally fair game. She is capable of focusing in combat against people or creatures, though taking a -2 to defense and gaining a +1 to damage, but in a "safe" area, she lashes out against the helpless scenery. Whether or not something breaks is irrelevant, she generally just feels better hitting something.

Screaming: The character lets out her stress vocally, and quite loudly. When her stress explosion is triggered in combat, she must spend at least 2 dice from her combat pool each turn until her stress is reset to 0, losing 2 stress per die spent. When her stress explosion is triggered outside of combat, she takes a -4 penalty to social checks until her stress falls to 0, or she may spend a scene doing strenuous activity with no other benefit.

Sleeping: The character will deal with stress by shutting down and crashing, getting in some fitful sleep while perhaps dreaming of taking out all her anger and sorrow on figments in dreams. If she must remain awake, she takes -4 to all rolls until her explosion is over (twice as long while awake), or she can splat somewhere.

Tantrum:

Violence: The character takes out her anger on the surroundings, usually other people. In combat, the character takes a -4 penalty to her defense, and gains +2 to damage, and may not use more than 2 dice on defense (including swap dice). Outside of combat, the character will be abrasive enough to inflict stress on their allies, and belligerent enough to start a brawl if one is starting to brew. Allies take 1 point of stress per scene spent with someone under this stress explosion.

Vitriol: The character begins to argue with and insult everyone around her, particularly any who have wronged her (causing 1 point of stress to those she targets), her friends and innocents included. She takes -2 to social combat for 1d4 scenes afterward, as her shrieking sticks for some time afterward.

Voraciousness: The character relieves her stress and tension by eating, usually having preference for a single type of food (such as meat, sweets, or alcohol). She may leave toothmarks on anything inedible, sometimes including other people, but usually prefers to eat non-talking meats. If she is unable to binge on edibles, then this explosion is treated as violence.

Stress Relief

Alcohol: The character is something of a lush, and enjoys drinking. She recovers 1d3 points of spirit by spending time drinking in a relatively safe area.

Avarice: The character is greatly calmed by counting money, as well as finding ways to hide it from others. She may regain 1d3 points of spirit if she spends time alone counting money. This may only occur once per scene.

Cuddling: The character can be somewhat of a lonely creature, and finds easy solace in the arms of another. Provided time and an attractive partner, a simple scene of relaxing and being pampered will restore 1d6+1 stress to her.

Exercise:

Gardening: The character finds her hobby calming. If she spends a scene gardening (without using magic), she recovers 1d2 points of spirit. This doesn't prevent her from holding a conversation, as long as it's light in nature.

Gnawing: The character is a compulsive gnawer with an oral fixation. Generally this means she snacks a lot, though chewing gum is wonderful for her. She relieves 1 point of stress in any scene she spends chewing, gnawing, eating, or otherwise grinding her teeth on something.

Music: The character listens to music to unwind, typically having a favorite genre. She regains 1d4+1 points of spirit when spending a scene simply relaxing to enjoyable music, either live or recorded. If interruptions occur, such as conversation or work happening, she instead only recovers 1d3 points of spirit for the scene.

Playing: Spending time with friends greatly aids in calming down the character, especially if they're having fun. Regardless of outcome, she will not accumulate stress from games with minimal or no consequences, and she, in fact, recovers 1d4 spirit if she spends a scene playing a game with a friend.
