CURRENT PLAN
- Strahd is in control because of great power built up over centuries. We have weeks to disrupt it.
- We should keep an eye out for any information about where he gets his power to summon monsters and so on. Does he have a magic cauldron? If so, we crack it. If it's innate, nothing can be done.
- We can, and must, remove political support from Strahd. One hero of legend, alone, still goes down to fifty riflemen and five competent officers.
- The werewolves can be eliminated by a decapitation strike on their den.
- The druids are likely to be neutral, or join us, if we can demonstrate that the sun is better for the land.
- The Vistani are a wild card, it is important that they remain neutral. We must learn what their deal with Strahd is and, if possible, offer them a better one.
- We have to secure support in the other villages now that Vallaki has been liberated. Going to Barovia and to the church northwest of Vallaki will be necessary. Each settlement's militia must be brought up to the point where it can protect the town against proportionate forces. This will foster national unity; if the land is under Strahd's spell, this is how we break it.
- The ravens are already on our side but should we let them know that we don't actually plan to take over?
- Identify any other factions and ensure their support or at least their neutrality.
- Keep Strahd guessing, it has worked so far. Juliana will pretend to want to take over this land. Strahd will symphatise with that, it matches his experience and his understanding of the world. This will make Strahd think she is predictable. We need to decide who to let onto the deception.
- Ireena must be kept out of Strahd's reach, but not in a way that he thinks she is entirely gone (dead or evacuated). This will cause him to split his efforts.
- The final part of the plan is a grand reopening of Argynvosthold during which we will announce that the land is under new administration. We can expect an attack there and then. The goal is to cause Strahd to attack blindly, and on our turf. Ideally, Argynvosthold should crumble on his head a second after we pull the pin. Then, we unload on him until he cries like a little girl.
