A large group of closely spaced, bridge-connected lands with several small settlements, with the uninhabited portions largely covered in forest; known for its hunts, its bad weather, and its internal infighting. Horsemanship is still practiced as a survival skill here due to flying being hazardous thanks to the frequent thunderstorms; stories of feudal lords using blood crystals to unnaturally prolong their lives should be disregarded as folklore. Bergstrasse can refer either to the land, or the ancient road network that cuts through it. Canton Bergstrasse does not have a formal ruler, instead, a warchief is chosen by whatever methods happen at the time to deal with external threats. (Stereotype: Feudal Germany, Transylvania)

The assorted squabbling lands of Bergstrasse put aside their hostilities for two weeks each midautumn, even if the internecine bickering has become open warfare, for the SausageFest.

When word of the Fest first spread through the Stream, it led to an envoy of delegates from Thracion being dispatched to attend, expecting to find a culture which they could relate to like no other which they had ever encountered.

They were disappointed therefore, to find that in fact while the SausageFest did in fact tend to involve sex between participants of a wide manner of different pairings of genders and species, that the core focus of the event was indeed the myriad forms of tubular processed meat. They do not, however, use the word 'tubular' at the fest as it has been experimentally shown to increase incidents involving solo pilots of the Stream with bizarrely loose floral patterned shorts and bleached hair.

The fest is an event where any Bergstrassian may eat, drink, and be merry. Some Enotrians have asked how any vegetarian or vegan Bergstrassian might be happy at a festival dedicated entirely to meat, albeit meat affected by herbs and spices, but the general response of most Bergstrassians to this query is, "a veg what?"
