Hibernia

Land Hibernia was one of the first lands settled out of the Plateau, and indeed Hibernian literature is the most ancient non-Tsuxian historical record that is considered to have any reliability. Hibernia's soil is naturally rich and the land would probably be a veritable breadbasket if it was situated further south.

In more recent history, Hibernia used to be a Cascadian colony, but gained her independence during Sven Harpy's "reign"; when the Cascadian Queen disappeared, Hibernia seceded from the Commonwealth and declared itself a republic. What was expected to be an enduring low-intensity conflict ceased shortly after the Big War ended due to preexisting sheer exhaustion by all participants after a very bloody beginning that made it clear that both cantons would lose if they kept it up.

Hibernia is a fairly Jovist canton -- adherents of other faiths won't face discrimination as the land takes its constitutional agnosticism seriously, but will probably end up with a black eye if discussing religion in a pub; on that note, the Hibernian boxin' monk is a stock character in many stories.

Most Slipstream inhabitants, other than the Enotrians, will agree that Hibernian wine is second to none.
