- Payload
- A Payload always masses 1 and is researched accordingly.
- Some Payloads need to be ON or OFF. Derps spend a point of Stamina to turn a payload ON, but turning it OFF is free.
- Payloads must end their turn in Capsules or Habitats and are considered lost if they don't.
- Payloads that are carried home safely can be reused.
- Payloads roll for reliability when they are turned on -- an EVA suit is donned, mapping equipment is deployed, a cart is made to start driving around, and so on.
- Payloads can be left ON between turns, and will not require a point of stamina to be used again, but will still require a check.
- A payload may be jury rigged unless otherwise indicated.
- FAIL! - In case of a Fail, the payload cannot be used this turn. If it was ON, it turns itself OFF.
- BOOM! - In case of a Boom, the payload is damaged (and turns OFF). If it was carrying a Derp (EVA suit or cart) the Derp is injured. All payloads of that type lose -3/-3 reliability.
- Payload Types
| Name | Description | Purpose | Special |
| EVA | A spacesuit with a small thruster, that can be used to go outside the capsule and move around. | Used to enter/exit habitats and carts, walk on the Moon, transfer to another craft, etc. | An EVA suit is turned OFF after a spacederp enters an Upgoer and stays for a turn. |
| Mapping | An iconograph, easel and paints, a lot of napkins and a protractor, a meditation technique to memorize land masses really well.. | Used to generate maps of the world or its moon. This gives a dot bonus, and can be a victory condition. | Players should agree beforehand whether a Derp must be present for mapping to occur |
| Winch | Can be a harpoon, lasso, magnet, huge roll of gaffer tape, etc. | Used to help with docking. | Each single winch attempt requires a check. |
| Cart | Can be an actual cart, rover, space-adapted mule, huge hamster ball, etc. | Used to extend EVA range on a celestial body. | If two moon mission return during the same turn, and only one had a cart, that one gets the moon mission bonus. The cart needs a check every time it is used, but only requires a point of stamina to be turned ON, and may be left ON between turns. |
| Waylight | Can be a glowing crystal, big mirror, huge inflatable smiley face, etc. | Waylights are used to "tag" orbital waypoints, and can give a small piloting bonus to every derp you command. | A waylight needs a reliability check each turn it is left ON. |
| Probe | A small but highly visible rocket that can be shot out by itself to do ONE burn. | It is used to observe the effects of a burn, and doubles as an escape tower. | If your capsule is in low or elliptic orbit, and there is at least one probe, discarding everything but the capsule and using it allows an additional deorbit burn to reentry. Probess CANNOT be jury rigged. |
| Recycler | A way to reuse rations. | On a success, it will negate a derp consuming a ration or that turn, essentially trading stamina for rations. | Can only be used if there is something left to recycle: at least 1 ration per derp on board. |
